Hoping to avoid the non-stop fog coverage and the crazy Bay to Breakers crowd, we set out to Angel Island for a fun bike around the Island. The 5-mile bike path connects a series of old abandoned military installations including Fort McDowell, where I took this photo.
Since I’m crazy for this kind of decay, we hopped into some of the buildings but I took note of others for my return visit.
Angel Island is part of the California State Park system which was recently named as one of the most endangered landmarks in the US.
